Thesis Papers

Teacher and student review a final draft of the student's research paper.

This year, nearly every student in the school completed a research paper.  I am thrilled to see how much everyone learned from going through the process of writing a thesis, supporting it with research, documenting sources, and producing a paper about their topic.

Spring Book Fair – Jan. 31 – Feb. 3

MMS Library before the Fair is set up

MMS Library with the Book Fair all set to go!

Yay! The “Spring” Book Fair is here. Scholastic has sent us some very good books from which to choose. They also sent us for the first time a whole extra cart of Young Adult books. Cross your fingers that the weather is nice next week so that the class visits can take place without a hitch.

One awesome book on sale is a combination of mystery, ghost story, and historical fiction called The Secret of Laurel Oaks.   I am so excited that the author, Lois Ruby, will  be visiting our school in April!

Spin: The Story of Michael Jackson

In response to many students who have requested a biography of Michael Jackson, our library now has the book, Spin: The Story of Michael Jackson. This book explores Michael Jackson’s private and professional life, including his family, success, hits, marriage, children, plastic surgeries, legal proceedings, and other related topics.

Holiday Books

There are many books in our library to help you get in the holiday spirit — fiction, cookbooks, art books, decorating books…  A few book covers of popular holiday books are shown above.

To find a book you might like, enter the name of the holiday that interests you in our catalog. Ask Mrs. Melaugh or one of the Library Helpers if you need assistance to find what you would like on the shelf.

Mysteries of the Komodo Dragon: The Biggest Deadliest Lizard Gives Up Its Secrets by Marty Crump

Komodo dragons are way cool animals! Recent discoveries include how they are superbly adapted for their harsh environment, including lots of gory details like how their saliva is full of bacteria, aiding them in killing any animal they bite, even the ones that seem to get away. They then can track their decomposing prey up to seven miles away with the aid of superb scenting capability. Now scientists are working to solve the mystery of how Komodo dragons survive each others’ bites which may lead to benefits for humans in fighting disease. Every page has at least one or two clear, large photos of Komodo dragons and their habitat.
